Abstract

Introduction. The modern process of digitalization of education and external challenges, in particular, quarantine restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, restrictions on electricity supply in Ukraine due to military operations, accelerated the process of digital transformation of communication strategies of higher education institutions.

Materials and methods. The methodological basis of the research is general and special scientific methods: the dialectical method of cognition, analysis and synthesis, generalization of information, monographic research, abstraction, comparison, statistical methods of digital data research.

Results and discussion. The institution of higher education, as an open socio-economic system, has a significant amount of external and internal communications, which in modern conditions is carried out mainly in an online format. Due to the lack of accumulated experience in building communication strategies during the war and the need to respond to the challenges of the external environment, higher education institutions of Ukraine had to respond very quickly to challenges and build up their own experience to ensure the quality of the educational process and the competitiveness of universities. The process of digitalization of external and internal communications of institutions of higher education contributed to the formation of information ecosystems of institutions of higher education. Information ecosystems of higher education institutions have certain features, as they are aimed primarily at ensuring the educational process. In Ukraine, in the conditions of war, the distance learning format is the safest and most effective for all participants in the educational process.

Conclusions. During the war, it is advisable to use the online communication format in higher education institutions when forming communication strategies. The online format of communications involves the use of all the available resources of universities and requires the involvement of additional resources, which is especially noticeable in the event of a power outage. Quick response to the challenges of the external environment and the formation of internal information ecosystems allows higher education institutions to maintain the quality of providing educational services and remain competitive in the market of educational services.
