PERSPECTIVES OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES SECTOR IN UKRAINE

Introduction. The worldwide sphere of information and communication technologies is developing rapidly, outpacing traditional fields of industry. New segments of the IT market are being formed and approaches to its regulation are changing. The perspectives for the development of the domestic ICT sector depend not only on solving national security problems, but also on the support and development of regulation of this sector in the context of European integration.
Materials and methods. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study is based on the scientific works of Ukrainian scholars. The information base of the study is statistical data and reports of the central executive authorities of Ukraine and the United Nations. The research problem is solved by means of scientific analysis, methods of scientific generalisation, systematisation, induction and deduction.
Results and discussion. In order to determine the perspectives for the development of the national ICT sector, the article analyses the trends in the development of the worldwide ICT market and its individual segments, as well as the volume of sales of these goods and services in Ukraine.
The resumption of the sector's operation in the short term depends on solving the problems of national security, reliable electricity supply and solving the problems of human resources. In the longer term, the development of the national ICT sector will depend on restoring and increasing its export potential, expanding scientific and technical cooperation, and using the opportunities of the European Union's Digital Single Market.
Conclusions. The changes in the structure of the worldwide ICT market require a rapid response. The emergent technologies segment is developing rapidly, which requires the implementation of new regulatory methods. The perspectives for the development of the national ICT sector depend on meeting current trends and challenges in the global market, as well as on solving the problems of operational safety, reliable energy supply, and human resources of enterprises.
